DIFFICULTY
Intermediate
DURATION
1 - 3 Hours
-
CLEAN THE SURFACE: Thoroughly clean your bike frame and wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth. Wash your hands to avoid leaving fingerprints on the adhesive.
-
PREPARE THE TAPE: Use scissors to trim the customizable stencil and protection tape as needed, since the pieces are designed for larger frames. Before removing the backing, align each piece with your frame and mark any areas that need to be adjusted. Round any hard edges to prevent peeling over time.
-
APPLY MOISTURE: Our Protection Tape can be applied to both wet and dry surfaces, but applying it to a wet surface allows for easier adjustments, although it may take more time to remove excess moisture. To apply wet, lightly spray fingertips and tape with water.
-
POSITION THE TAPE: Remove the backing and center the protection tape where desired. Make any necessary adjustments before applying pressure. Once satisfied with the position, secure the center of the tape with firm pressure from your squeegee.
-
APPLY PRESSURE: Firmly press from the center towards the sides to push out any air bubbles, using the provided squeegee or your thumbs. We recommend lightly heating each piece with a hairdryer or heat gun before applying pressure, to help the adhesive adhere better.
PRO TIPS
-
Ensure that both ambient and surface temperatures are between 55°F and 90°F during installation.
-
If you encounter difficulty wrapping the guard around curves, make additional relief cuts as needed.
-
To avoid leaving fingerprints, wet your fingertips lightly with water.
-
Get creative with scrap pieces! Use them on the seat tube, top of the downtube, or any areas prone to cable rub.
